Thomas C.K. Yuen – Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Tom Yuen is a proven serial entrepreneur who has founded several successful publicly traded companies including AST Research Inc. and SRS Labs, Inc. With a hugely successful career spanning five decades in the computers and electronics sector, Tom Yuen, a true “American Dream” success story shifted his attention away from the electronics industry where he spent most his career innovating in, to focus on another passion of his life, medical regenerative therapies.

Fueled by his own battle with chronic kidney disease (CKD), Tom first started exploring stem cells in the 1980s. Upon researching the beginnings of what he imagined could be the future of medicine, Tom embarked on a journey to expand stem cell research and find therapeutic uses for these cells to improve the quality of life for people and animals suffering from chronic and debilitating diseases. In 2002, Tom purchased PrimeGen Biotech, a pioneer in the stem cell space, and has since worked closely with his team of scientists to learn everything there is to know about the regenerative properties of these cells and advance the state-of-the-art of the science.

Mr. Yuen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 1974. He received his B.S.E. with honors from University of California, Irvine in 1974. He is also an Honorary Professor of Minzu University of China in Beijing in 1991. Mr. Yuen is the recipient of several awards from University of California, Irvine, including the Extraordinarius Award 2014 by the UCI Alumni; UCI Medal in 1990; the outstanding Engineering Alumni Award in 1987 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1986. He also was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2012 by TechAmerica.

Mr. Yuen is a member of the UCI Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a board member of Providence Speech and Hearing Center. He is a founding board member of the UC Irvine Institute for Innovation.

He is a seasoned clinician with over twenty-five years of experience as a large animal practitioner and scientist working in the research laboratories of academic and biotech organizations and in private veterinary clinics.

As an expert in cell-based therapy technology, he contributed to development of innovative techniques using a variety of stem cells for regenerative medical applications. Dr. Izadyar has directed many research programs in different disciplines and collaborated with numerous academic and industrial organizations both nationally and internationally. His involvement in clinical research has resulted in the publishing of numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals that have been presented in Veterinary and Stem cell meetings.

Dr. Chad Maki DVM – Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chad Maki earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the internationally accredited University of Edinburgh, Scotland at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Since 2005 he has published numerous scientific papers and worked extensively in the field of stem cell research, including work at the famous Roslin Institute in Scotland. He was the medalist recipient for the most outstanding research report in his graduating class and was awarded a grant for externship study at his university’s sister school, Colorado State College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Maki has also volunteered in the USA, UK and Portugal with various non-profit organizations to help horses, cats, dogs and sea mammals in need of veterinary care.

After graduating with his DVM he moved back to his home town in Orange County, California and has since been practicing as a primary care veterinarian and developing and delivering stem cell therapies for pets that are suffering from various ailments. He has presented to universities and veterinarians worldwide about stem cell therapy development and application. Dr. Maki sees the great potential that stem cell therapy can have for various degenerative, inflammatory, immune-modulated and organ specific diseases and his aim is to implement these therapies worldwide. Dr. Maki envisions regenerative and cell-based therapies as the mainstay of veterinary and human medicine and is excited to be at the forefront in this field.
