The Collection Process

Pre-Treatment Requirements

Prior to treating a pet with stem cell therapy, the pet must first be evaluated by a qualified veterinary practitioner. The pet’s condition should be well documented to ensure that stem cell therapy is an appropriate treatment. Client consent documentation should be filled out by veterinarian and pet owner and collection order placed with VetCell Therapeutics.

Step 1 – Tissue Extraction Surgery

Veterinary professional extraction of fat from subcutaneous, falciform or other mesenteric sites. (30-100 grams is required to help ensure an adequate therapeutic dose can be produced. This also increases the likeliness of there being excess cells for future use). Once tissue is extracted from our patient, it is packaged in VetCell Therapeutics’ validated shipper container and sent priority overnight to VetCell Therapeutics’ processing facility in Santa Ana, California. This shipment system is designed to maintain a consistent temperature range of 2-8 degrees Celsius for a period of 24 hours.

Step 2 – Stem Cell Processing

Once the validated shipper is received by VetCell Therapeutics, the adipose tissue is processed in accordance with GMP guidelines. VetCell Therapeutics separates the stem cells from the rest of the tissue using proprietary techniques to ensure maximum stem cell yield.

Step 3 – Testing and Validation

Once the processing is completed, VetCell Therapeutics thoroughly tests and evaluates the final product to ensure the safety and efficacy of the cell therapy. These tests include: cell count, viability, sterility, endotoxin, mycoplasma, karyotype and cell surface marker analysis.

Step 4 – Treatment Packaging and Shipment Preparation

Upon completion of the testing and validation process, if the cells pass the strict requirements and are deemed safe by VetCell Therapeutics, they are then packaged into a syringe, and loaded into VetCell Therapeutics’ validated shipper container and sent priority overnight back to the veterinary clinic. This shipment system is designed to maintain a consistent temperature range of 2-8 degrees Celsius for a period of 24 hours.

Step 5 – Stem Cell Therapy Procedure

Once cell therapy is received by veterinary clinic, the patient must be brought in within 24 hours for injection procedure.

* Falciform fat can be utilized if there is not sufficient subcutaneous fat
